:come into Dr Love's little world:
It is the year end again. And as usual, the ups and downs... an impt yr for me as well... well, me and DD got our flat in APril... completed the transaction in June, and ROMed in end sept. A fantastic yr i would say... but coz of that, i realise how troublesome a marriage can get, esp in terms of finance. There is a need to plan how much u wan to set aside for the dinner, the wedding photos, the renovations etc etc, the list goes on... seriously, up to now, me n DD havent really figured it all out yet. I love u bao bei, muackx
But I must be happy in one aspect, I managed to catch up with most of my friends, be it hall mates, sec sch and close friends... in the midst of our heavy workload, festive celebrations, it is easy to forget your old friends... so i m really glad that i managed to get my friends together... U guys are the BEST !!!
i am also glad that i travelled the most for one year, 3 times... wow... twice to HK and once to BKK.. oh my... i seriously nvr really expect that... but u can guess the effect of these trips on my pocket... Long live the one who invented airplane!!!
Oh yes, i also got my current car at the start of the year... white !!! i like... haha... and in march when my tires will die, i will change my sports rims, my Papa will bring the car for a make-over, with a whiter shade of white for my car and rims... talk abt trying to fix my pocket... haha...
DD also graduated and got her job as a financial adviser. She is slowly getting the drift and is seriously becoming quite good. Anyone wans a financial review and come to me.... haha...
Career-wise, nothing much has changed. I am still the PCK of the unit. Hopefully, I can managed to squeeze my 2nd grade out in July.
That's abt it... pretty much like alot of other pple... but i m happy for an eventful year. Next yr will be better I hope... CheerZ
It is 2:30am in the morning... what m i doing up? well, i got a fever on my head... the temperature doesnt seems so bad on the thermo (37.5) but somehow, i feel terrible... i remember what i was younger, abt sec 3, I also had the same feeling - fever, suddenly feeling really cold and weak... and i end up going to Changi Hospital for a jab... well, this time is not as bad... but i puked twice already... for the second time, i was actually woken up from the middle of my not-so-deep sleep... now my stomach is rumbling and i cant sleep... eerrkk, i hate to puke !!! i guess it is really my own greediness... I have been chewing the cashew nuts i bought from thailand, esp times when i m playing FM2006. I declared that I LOVE cashew nuts... even when they r put in dishes, like what the thais like to do... so nice !! hee... somehow, my greedy nature has made me finish 2 big packets within a week... and brought me yet another illness, seriously, retribution... hopefully, the doc tmr give me some really good medicine... u see, i m supposed to go to a stag night party for one of my friend, Johnny, who is getting married on the 8th Jan. SO i seriously seriously dun wan to miss that, though i dun even noe what's the plan... but i m sure it will be fun, esp for the groom... haha...
hmm... the turn of the year is almost here... and usually during this time, u will think bac abt how the year goes... i got a lot of happening during the year... but i m simply too weak to write abt it... tmr mayb... Sweet Dreams....
have you ever like a movie so much that u will watch it over and over again? Just like when u fall in love with a person, u fall in love with her again and again... Well, my fav romantic movie of all time, THE NOTEBOOK. Released in 2004, I am still very much in love with the movie. Today, I took my time and watched it for the third time, and yes I fell with love with it for the third time... It is a very simple plot abt the first love between Noah and Allie. The movie starts with Noah trying to help Allie to remember who he is coz they are old and Allie has old pple memory problem. He reads from a notebook which she wrote, to help her remember everything abt their love story. Filled with ups and downs, a typical set of a rich girl falling for a poor guy and parents objecting, this love story will fill u with tears and warmth.
The story shows us what it means when love has no limits - no limits in volume, in age, in quality... there is no measurement in love, a simple flower will bring a smile to one, and lets her feel loved... a touch can bring peace to one and let her feel protected... a diamond or gucci can bring so much to a person, but cant filled the emptiness in him... and as we entered the new-age in the years of 2000s, romance have taken a different definition... we have somehow forgotten how to love, how to talk, how to fight with senses and how to make up for lost time... It also reminds us how fragile life is, with memories gone, with life flashed past u in a second, and how impt it is to cherish and treasure what is ahead of us, and the mild fact that we cant hv everything in life... but more imptly, miracles happen with love, but u hv to believe....
here is my fav part of the movie, part of Noah's letter to Allie after the parents forced her to move away:
"The best love is the kind to wake us all, and make us reach for more, it plants fire in our hearts and bring peace to our minds and that's what u hv given me, and that's what i want to give u forever"
For those who have not see the movie or read the novel before, I urge u to do it now... CheerZ
King Kong
=================================================================================
The movie that everyone's been waiting for by Peter Jackson, made famous none other than the LOTR trilogy. A re-make from the original, the beast itself definitely breathes more life. The plot is somewhat similar. Jack Black, a movie producer, was planning to go to an undiscovered island called the Skull Island, where only pirates been before. In this island, there is a myth of an animal so big and powerful, that the natives built a wall 100 feet high to blocked him, and they will sacrifice one female to this beast. However, Naomi Watts was found by the natives while trying to shoot the movie, and it turned out, she was chosen as the next one. Being taken by King Kong, she found her original job as a comedian useful, as she kept King Kong entertained and herself alive. However, her crew is desperate to bring her back before they set course for home. In the process, they found the world filled with Dinosaurs and giant insects. Well, they managed to save her, of coz, with lots of luck, and end up bringing King Kong back to NY city. Unthinkable as it is, he was displayed as the eighth wonder of the world. The movie is three hours long, so find a good seat to watch this show, it really helps. It is also draggy at times, especially on Skull Island. Somestimes too much of something turns away the flavour.

Christmas is a time for sharing and giving... DD and I attended our annual church-going for xmas on this day... in case u dunno, I am a christian, just that i find going to church every sunday a hassle... anyway, we attended a service at the Calvary Bible Prey Church at Pandan. I love going to Church. Everyone is dressed decently, there is no fun or anything loud abt it. Everyone just go abt finding the seats, everyone is polite... the topic of the service is the "gift of God". Very appropriate on a christmas day when gifts are exchanged... however, the rev stressed that the best gift is something which will satisfied u, forever... a far thought huh... i mean, even though i gave DD a very "Gucci Christmas" (using some profits from my autosurf programs), i dun tink it will satisfied her forever... haha...
Once again, Merry Christmas to one and all !!!
before we went to Pandan, we took the time to watch the Chronicles of Narnia. It is a movie with mixed reviews, and I agreed after watching. Anyway, here is my critics on it.
Critics on "The Chronicles of Narnia, the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"
============================================================================
After a long wait, this movie is finally out just before the Christmas holidays in Singapore. This adapation of CS Lewis's 7-book novel is similar to the Wizard of Oz. Where magic is unthinkable. The cast do not feature anyone majorly famous, but I think it is a good move as the plot of the story takes centrestage. The movie is actually dated during WWII when the mother of the family sent the kids to another country to keep them away from the danger of the war. While staying with the "professor", the owner of the house, Lucy, the youngest daughter, accidentially chanced upon a wardrobe while playing Hide and Seek. Not knowing the magical powers of this, she entered into another world, not known to the civlized world outside, known as Narnia. In this place, there is a saying that two sons and two daughters of Adam and Eve will come to Narnia and save them from the evil white witch. In the process of helping the people, the 4 kids goes through tests of the character and bring them back to the meaning of life. A must-see for fans of the Wizard of Oz. The CGI effects of the ceatures and characters in Narnia is beautifully animated and breathes life into these characters. The musical scores are well-arranged to fit the movie in every aspects. Take your time to watch this movie during this festive season for this type of movie will only come once in a blue moon.

If you have been mesmerised by "Love Actually" the last Christmans holidays, you are going to love this movie even better. The movie also boosts a strong cast with almost the entire Stone family made up of big names, ranging from Diane Keaton, Sarah Jessica Parker, to Rachel McAdams. The plot revolves around the eldest son, Everett, played by Dermot Mulroney, bringing home his girlfriend, Meredith (Sarah Jessica Parker) for Christmas festive period. Well, things certainly didn't turn out the way she hopes to be, esp with Rachel McAdams (Amy Stone) telling the family how horrible a person she is. Despite her efforts to make herself more welcome in the family, Meredith is simply trying too hard. Her boyfriend, on the other hand, has been asking for the family stone, a diamond ring passed down by his grandmother, for the propose of proposal. This leads to strong objection from the family. Meredith, in turn, invited her sister, Julie (Clarine Danes) over, in hope to save her from her misery. Things took a twist during Christmas Eve dinner when a comment by Meredith sparks off some fire in the Stone family. One thing led to another and it is anyone's guess what happened in the end. Unlike Love Actually which is made up of different stories, this is a pure family treat. The movie is both warm-hearted and funny, with clever injects of emotional scenes.

Lyrics of : You Were There - Southern Sons
I guess you've heard, I guess you know
In time I'd have told you, but I guess I'm too slow
It’s overly romantic, but I know that it's real
I hope you don't mind, if I say what I feel
It’s like I'm in somebody else’s dream
This could not be happening to me
Chorus
But you were there
And you were everything I'd never see
You woke me up from this long and endless sleep
I was alone, I opened my eyes and you were there
Don't be alarmed, No don't be concerned
I don’t want to change things, leaving just as they were
I mean nothing's really different, it's me who feels strange
I'm always lost for words, when someone mentions your name
I know I'll get over this for sure
I'm not the type who dreams there could be more
Chorus
Can I take your smile home with me?
Or the magic in your hair
The rain has stopped, the storm has passed
Look at all the colours, now the sun's here at last
I suppose that you'd be leaving, but I want you to know
Part of you stays with me, even after you go
Like an actor playing someone else's scene
This could not be happening to me
Chorus
Ooh… I'm not alone
Ooh… I'm not alone
I opened my eyes and you were there
This is a really old song... I think abt the time I was in Sec sch or JC... anyway, these guys are Aussies, and like many, they are actually a one-hit wonder...
Frankly speaking, initially, when i heard this song, i dun really quite understand what it means... i mean, seriously, it can really mean quite a few things... but here is my understanding of it : it is actually a song abt someone is secretly in love with a girl... but realised that she is already in love with someone else... and at the same time, this girl is leaving... so she brings with her, a piece of him, and leaves a little memory that once he was asleep, and he wakes up to see her by her side... haha... anyhow wreck one... anyone wan to help?
today i came across an interesting piece of info and decide to do some research on it on the net... and indeed is interesting...
here it goes... in Japan, the land of the rising sun... there is this chocolate called the Honmei chocolate (sounds like home-made). Anyway, it can be home-made or factory, however, it generally means "chocolate for him"... what happens is that on the traditional valentine's day (14th Feb) where guys all over the world buys flowers and gifts for their loved ones, or those they have a liking, Japanese guys jus sit back and relax. Becos on this day, unlike the rest of the world, the japanese girls are supposed to prepare this Honmei chocolate for their loved ones, or those they fancy.... in a way, it is a way of biao3 bai2 to the guy... so u can go figure how much free chocolate a cute japanese guy will receive on this day.... on the other hand, on the 14th March, exactly a mth later, is called the WHITE DAY. This is the day where the girls sit back and guys do their job... of coz, since it is just a mth away, some guys who receive a lot of chocolate will actually decide on who they wan to go steady with and give her gifts or flowers... interesting.... seriously, it could potentially be a exciting 1 mth, or a heart-breaking one... haha... but i think someone should bring this tradition to Singapore... it's cool manz !!!
Yst we found a "perturbed" mail from a fellow colleague. Anyway, let me just use the callsigns, since no one except our community knows... n for ease of reading for others....
On thu, Oscar sent a mail, specifically mentioning that a controller was out of position. Conan, being the actual person, is puzzled why would such a mail be send out. He went to bomberman since he is the other adjacent controller to query whether he had a problem with the traffic intensity that fateful tue. His reply, "NO". so conan, replied the email politely, saying that he was doing another position... and could hv informed everyone involved, but the truth is that he was pulled to man another position for training. Seeing this two email, the management decided to send a reply thru my boss...indicating that these issues should be ironed out in person and not thru email. RIGHT ON!!!
Anyway, after the three mails, Oscar realising his mistake, apologized to conan. Is that the end of the story? apparently not... conan found out that bomberman actually question oscar "what would u do if a fellow controller is not in position?" however, he refused to tell oscar who the controller was... oscar being an easily perturbed person, decided to send out the mail in the end, resulting in the big WHOO-HAA... not only words was exchange between bomberman and oscar, but also SMSes... so this matter was out to the truth... my boss, being a super-good man that he is, decided to be the mediator today. During the session, my friend, gd-old conan, questioned bomberman's integrity becos he could hv sound out to conan when he approached him... and he even choose to reveal only abt the casual breakfast words exchanged, but not the SMS. I agreed with conan, casual words is ok, but SMS is intentional. my gd-ol friend conan poured out that he knew abt the SMSes exchanged.... and ask Mr Bomberman, "So what is your intention?" was the question posed to bomberman.... his answer, "I cannot explain". I mean, what the heck.... this is the second time bomberman had stabbed my friend in the back. seriously, what is his intention? Do he have something against my friend?
Anyway, i told conan, he is being too nice. If it was me, I will ask him in front of EVERYONE and what is his intentions and ask him if he had a problem with me? my friend is too nice in letting the matter rest like tat... if it was me, expect the worse.... MESS WITH THE BEST, DIE LIKE THE REST !!!
have u ever notice that most girls cant do parallel park? I, for one, always notice some qualities abt girls which i would admire.... becos they set them apart from the rest... hmm... let's see, here is my top 10....
1) Girls who can parallel park
2) Girls who can read maps
3) Girls who can remember every single detail
4) Girls who can cook (very rare nowadays)
5) Girls who can estimate time really well (I have a friend who is terrible at it)
6) Girls who are independent
7) Girls who is a good judge of character
8) Girls who can decide on things
9) Girls who dont care what others think
10) Girls who have the courage to break up with the bf
The last one is something which struck me as something difficult for girls to do. I mean, more often that not, guys are the one who initiate a breakup... due to the fact that guys are usually more clear-headed to recognise situations where relationships are stagnant or not progressing... during a recent course which i attended, i learned abt the left and right brain. And researches has shown that guys use more of the left brain and gals more of the right. Thus, the way the two different sex reason and view things is naturally different... guys tend to be more practical, girls tend to be more sensitive and emotional... but, that is how the world is... and that is what makes relationship and love is desireable... due to its complexity... to all more single friends, u aint losing out too much... it is better not to rush into a relationship and look closely first.... (0) comments A Diamond of a day
As the saying goes, "diamond is a girl's best friend"... is it really true? i dunno... i bought my DD one, then upgrade... and intend to upgrade it again... today, i would like to ask everyone :
"What does a diamond ring mean to u?"
1) 5 grand SGD (or whatever it cost?)
2) a symbol of love
3) a symbol of proposal
4) a symbol of "I am yours"
Sometime ago, during lull period, me and my colleagues were on the topic of diamond rings
friend A : hey friend B, what's the story abt u and diamond ring huh?
friend B : oh no lah, after i dumped my ex bf for my current one, he wanted the diamond ring that he gave me back...
friend A : huh? but.. but... but.... I tot diamond rings are meant to be symbols of love, since u broke up with him, then why dun u give him the ring back?
friend B : but it is a 0.4 carat diamond... (give a sobbing face)
ME thinking in the background : What does 0.4carat got to do with whether u shld give him back or not? You are the one who broke up with him, and u hv the cheek to keep his diamond ring?
friend C : (looks at me and give me the "she is so materialistic" look)
friend D : nodding his head to friend C
Do this kena-dumped-bf have the right to take the ring back? In my opinion, YES YES YES... the ring was given at a point of time when he thinks that he will marry this girl... until he got dumped... so why dun he hv the right? On the other hand, do i hv the right to say anything? no... since i m neither party... i can just give a third party opinion....
Conclusion : how u treats ur bf/husband/other half shows how angelic or devilish u r... how u treat valuable things and money shows how materialistic u r... the world is fair... it will come back and bite u
After a super long and tiring sat, I am really dead beat... the day started with a netball tournament... for one of my DD's friend's church... anyway, our team was not fantastic, but we could hv won the tournament, if not, for a weakest link, and some really terrible and bias refereeing... The day was long becos the tournament lasts from 9am to 5pm... omg the weather is so hot... we played like 5 matches, with a lot of waiting in between... We lost the semi-final due to some super bias refereeing... calling STEP (taking xtra step) and contact (going too close to the ball handler or contacting him/her) against us... and some super unsportsman behaviour... i mean, the other team's guys are super not gentlemen, first of all, there is this big guy playing GK (defender), but he totally dun care whether he could run into someone or not.... then there is this football guy who probably had no clues abt the game before the day starts, and only noe one thing, RUN... and he ran into people more than space.... and there is a last un-sportsmanlike behaviour, not waiting for the opponent to get ready for a free throw, and just started the game, and resulting in the winning goal.... KNS!!!
at the end of the day, i learned some xtra rules abt netball, i got so fed-up with the ref that i decided to run my socks off in the last match (3/4th placing) so that we get at least a medal... and i blocked a girl twice in the last match, yes yes, i noe, it is not gentlemen of me... but trust me, most of these buggers arent that gentlemen also.... and at the end of the day, i m still sore at losing, becos i believe we could have won... not that it matters whether we won, but it is the manner that we lose that pissed me off...
well, i ended off the day with a dinner with 9 other sec sch friends... quite cool if u ask me... eating dinner, and talking abt the rubbish we had in sec sch... it is good to have friends whom u noe for such a long time... sometimes i think they reminds u how u used to be, be it good or bad... and perhaps let u noe that u r better now... i mean, we only have 24 hours a day, minus-ing the 8 hours we sleep, we only left with 16 hours a day... not alot if u tell me.... so it is good to have friends whom u can keep in contact, meet once a while, and still part thinking that u had a good friend in this person... these are people whom are hard to come by and we shld cherish these friends....
Today I came across my friend's mail asking for help for his wedding. Btw, I got 4 friends getting married next year, 2 in Jan and 2 in Mar. Anyway, a friend was saying that in our job, more often than not, we are doing things for the sake of others and not ourselves... Is this True? Are we really doing this? Many pple do a lot of strange things, in search of the meaning of life... What is the meaning of life? Is it to be happy? So how do u make yourself happy? What abt letting others be happy in turn?
At one moment of time, me and my DD actually think that having a Beach Wedding is a cool idea... then we can skip the dinner and all the other things, and go str to our Honey moon... becos, we tot that wedding is for ourselves, not others, why go thru so much hassle... oh well, our desired date from wedding is still pretty much far away....
talking abt making others happy, let's talk abt engagement ring. I was hving dinner with my colleagues last fri when i revealed that I bought a 4.6k diamond ring for my DD. Well, it was initially 2.1k, 0.2carat, and I upgraded it to 0.5carat, for 4.6k. Then i was surprised that not alot of pple actually spent so much on their ring. Mayb I am a stupid guy, but I am happy that it makes my DD happy, and that is very true... with her being happy, I am happy...

This is a Famours Thai Delicacy... called GONG CHAIR NA BA... something like that... the grey stuff u see is actually prawns, RAW... they are eaten raw with garlic, veg, and some special thai chilli which is green in colour... I got a shock when DD's aunt ordered this... i tot there was supposed be to used for some steamboat shit... turns out, i was wrong... YUCKS... totally against my appetite....
Honestly, I am still pretty much living in dreams as my trip to BKK comes to an end... it was so long that i seriously thought i was going to live there... though seriously, with a little bit of help with the language, I dun rule out the possibility.... i means, things there are cheap... with the retirement amount we get from CPF, we might be able to go there n really do nothing n live in luxury... though i m not the type of person who can dun work for extended period of time... anyway, i was thinking of making BKK an annual trip... will be pretty cool since u dun spend much there....haha
anyway, going there with my in-laws let me understand my wife alittle bit more... n of coz, make me love her more too.... i mean, sometimes, even the smallest bit of info and understanding makes the world so much better... and not surprising, i tink my DD got most of her character traits from her mum.... jus like how i got mine from my dad... it is better to understand why she tinks the way she does sometimes...
today is a lucky day... i was supposed to be on night duty when the night work cancelled... i hv been pretty unlucky in terms of manning recently, but today, lady luck is shining on me.... so cool right... i was very out of luck recently, seriously...
This is the pic of my in-laws... in short, part of my family too...
Finally back from the land of smiles... the trip was good and things are cheap... but i had a terrible and angry ending in my time in Bangkok, well, from some ugly kiasu behaviour... really sad to see this kind of behaviour... esp from fellow country men
anyway, it goes like this, my in-laws, my wife and i reach the bangkok airport abt 2 hours early, u noe the normal time. So we went ahead to the check-in row we were supposed to be. There were 3 lines. there were abt 3 families in front of us, u know, the normal... then there is this couple in front of us, the last of the 3 families. After that, the lady left the line to go and "jio" her friends to join her as her turn was approaching. And mind u, her friends were actually 2 other families, with super many bags and suitcases, big ones too... then my sister-in-law started to look irritated, so did my mother-in-law... so becos of this "q-cutting", we became number 6 instead of number 4... KNS!!! i mean, seriously, if they want to sit together, then q in the same bloody line lah... why do they hv to split up, see which q is longer, then cut-q? KIASU? and mind u, there is a heck of pple behind us also... they were unhappy as well... and worse, they confused the staff by passing the staff all the passport together, trying to make it look like they are together, and then they got mixed up when checking in the baggage because the baggage is tagged to wrong family member... KNS... which caused the check-in to be longer... WORSE, the printer broke down in the midst of all these... seriously, i think it is retribution to them coz they ended up slower than the other 2 line, and we just happened to behind them... tough luck manz... and worse, one of the women actually heard my sister-in-law complained, and she said out loud, "they got no right to complain"... i mean, wat the heck, u cut q not enuff, still say we got no right to complain? doesnt mean u hv a person in each line that u can change line as an when u liked, pple hv morals... if u dun hv shout the hell up!!! i decided to apply the "guilty pple dun look u in the eye" thingy and stared at the lady for a good 20 min... well, as usual, she dun dare to look back, and at one time, can only managed to look at my eyes for 2 sec, and a very difficult smile... and i refused to smile back...
very sad to see this kind of behaviour.... i mean, wat is the difference if u check in 10 min earlier? u r still going to touch down at the destination airport at the same time... KNS... jumping q is not the way to cut short the waiting time... and if u wan to sit together with friends, then check-in and q in the same line together lah... and dun be an ass to other people... can u imagine the other 2 families in the other q, trying to go thru the crowd with all the baggages and trolley, to CUT Q? wth... KNS... i seriously feel like writing into straits times... but i dun think it matters... these pple are just ill-mannered... and i think their kids will turn out to be like that too... if the kids got any good from the schools in singapore, they ought to feel ashame of what their parents did...
