Wednesday, June 28, 2006 || Come Come Come, 4th July !!!

These few days, I can't help but had my mind on the day 4th July and what is going to happen. Thousands, even millions, of things ran thru my mind, the events that lead to it, the waiting time I have to endure till now. My mind, locked in the past, from the time everything started, my sec sch, JC, army, Uni and working life, all I could think of is the past... Somehow, I dunno why... Like many, I wish I had a remote control like Adam Sandler in CLICK, go back to the past as and when we want, slow things down when things are going good, pause and give that irritating someone a slap in the face... Many happy memories went thru my mind... sweet ones... and the ones which i did some really stupid and silly things jus to bring a smile to that special someone of mine... Swenson's Sticky Chewy Chocolate, A special pair of Nike running shoes, My xiaogui and xiaoxiaogui, Sentosa's Pink Dolphins... "I dun wan army".... "You like me is it?"... "Are you hungry? I go cook noodles for you"... "Am I fat?"... one by one, these are great memories, which will bring a smile...

All I wish is that everything will go well... Like one of my dear fren... 4th July is independence day... hopefully it will be for me too... Wish me well my Friends... And I thank you for all you guys and gals, for the support at any point of time which I feel down... Especially to Agnes and Claud which listen to my initial outbust of IT...

Monday, June 26, 2006 || Best Car Wash in Singapore

Had a meeting at Depot Road today. It ended much much earlier than expected. So I took the liberty of going to a car wash... after so many days of rain, today is the first time i went thru the whole day without rain... As expected, my xiao bai become xiao grey liao... It has been ages since I went for a car wash... I drove the Geylang, the best car wash in Singapore. Seriously !!!!

Unlike other car wash, this place takes their job a lot more seriously. They will first rinse the car once... then wipe it clean... then use a special solution to clean the sports rims... then the usual foam and wipe.... before the last rinse... the whole process took 15-20min... so if u are thinking of going there on weekends, be prepared for a queue!!! I once waited 1 hour for my turn... but well worth it... if u are those too lazy to wash your own car... CHEERZ...

Sunday, June 25, 2006 || Meet Joe Black (1998)

I was at home watching thru some DVD yst, before I made my way out for the Germany vs Sweden soccer match... then I found this DVD in one of my folders. So I decided to re-watch this show. One of the best movie I watched... the words spoken are so direct, and clear, and straight to the point... Those of you who nvr seen it before, go to a rental store and get it... here are some of my fav quotes from it...

"If you and I were married, I would want to give you what you need.
I don't see what's wrong with that, taking care of a woman. She takes care of you"

"I want you to get swept away out there
I want you to levitate
I want you to sing with rapture and dance like a dervish
Be deliriously happy"

"Love is passion, obsession, something you cannot live without
Someone to fall head over heels
Some to love like crazy and love you back"

Thursday, June 22, 2006 || AutoSurf Upgrade

Hi to all auto surf frens. Looks like AT is running fund transfer problems. This could spell trouble if they do not handle it with care. As per now, I will be stopping the re-investing to AT for the time being, until their auto cashout script with VM is done.

On the other hand, I got my 3rd payout from 13dp. Paid within 24 hours of expiry. And I just realise that it has grew ridiculously fast. So guys, drop in, get the profit fast. It will probably stay for at least another 1 to 2 months. One negative thing is that they only allow 2 active upgrades. Be in soon, before it's too late.

Wednesday, June 21, 2006 || Bon Jovi - I'll Be There for You

I love this song... It is a classical and one of the greatest hits ever to hit the 80s' ROCK scene. Pardon their ridiculous hairstyle... haha.... some parts of the lyrics is actually quite cheesy... "I'd steal the sun from the sky for you" ... "I'll be the water when you get thirsty baby"... " When you get drunk, I'll be the wine".... But the song is still one of the nicest rock ballet. I still remember dancing to this song with my 1st gf during JC... Enjoy !!!!

I guess this time you're really leaving
I heard your suitcase say goodbye
Well as my broken heart lies bleeding
You say true love its suicide
You say you've cried a thousand rivers
And now you're swimming for the shore
You left me drowning in my tears
And you won't save me anymore
I'm praying to God you'll give me one more chance girl

Chorus :
I'll be there for you, these five words I swear to you
When you breathe, I wanna be the air for you
I'll be there for you
I'd live and I'd die for you
I'd steal the sun from the sky for you
Words can't say what love can do
I'll be there for you

I know you know we've had some good times
Now they have their own hiding place
Well I can't promise you tomorrow
But I can't buy back yesterday
And baby you know my hands are dirty
But I wanted to be your Valentine ...
I'll be the water when you get thirsty baby
When you get drunk, I'll be the wine

Chorus

I wasn't there when you were happy
And I wasn't there when you were down
Didn't mean to miss your birthday baby
I wish I'd seen you blow those candles out

Chorus

Tuesday, June 20, 2006 || My job SUX!!!

Life SUX... my only positive hope in this organisation in the France trip went to dust... I am only the reserve, and I doubt that the actual person will backed out of such a nice course... The best thing is, the reason why I am the reserve and not the actual is coz her big boss claims that they dun hv someone who is trained in that area of expertise... Then what happen to my side? my boss has been nice to push me for this within the unit. But my big boss? Did he said anything? My unit also dun hv anyone trained either... but nothing was said nor done... That's it, life sux... Just when u tink things can only get better when it is at such a low, it got worse... Now i just wan to get this current project that i m holding on, over and done with... for the sake of my boss's help all this time he is here... my dear readers, if u tink ur job sux, tink again... my morale is at an all-time low... It was so low that I told a fren that if a girl comes along and buy me out of my bond, I might just decide to marry her... it is THAT low...

Anyway, those of u who dunno my msn's practice, if i m "away", then I am not ard... if I am "busy", then I am in, but doing something, eg. playing game... if I am "online" means I am ard... and available for chats...

On the contrary, a joke from my boss today which he read from the papers
"For women who complaint abt the World Cup, come on, it is once every 4 years and it only lasts a month. Shopping is once every 4 days, and it lasts a lifetime."

Sunday, June 18, 2006 || My Chemistry with the ball today

Sigh... I still din managed to find a pair of suitable Basketball Shoes... how sad... two trips to Queensway, either no size, or too pricy, or design too ugly, or too high...

Went to SPE to shoot some hoops after our Queensway walk... It has been abt a mth since the last time I shoot some basket... I must admit, the "feeling" is gone... Somehow, shooting a basketball is a very instinctive thing to do... The flip of your wrist, the forward motion of your shooting arm, the "release" action of your supporting arm, the height of the ball... all these are important with reference to the chances of your ball going through the hoop... I remember last time when I lost the "feeling", I will just keep shooting foul shots... and today I did the same... After abt more than 20 attempts, suddenly on one attempt, the "feeling" just come... I dunno how, but it came back... The instinctive motion of the body just took over... then the shoots keep going in... and slowly, even the other shots, 2-pointers or 3-pointers, started to fall as well... The "feeling" is back !!! And it felt good...

Somehow, this episode with basketball reminds me of the chemistry and passion of a relationship... You may not have touched a basketball before, but once you got hold of it, keep shooting, the "chemistry" between you, the hoop and the ball just instinctively come... Of coz, some of these chemistry are deeper than others... The same goes with relationship... You may not see that someone ever in your life, but somehow, sometime down the line, you felt something... It may not be perfect, but it is enuff to keep your passion going, arouse your interest, enuff for you to spend time on it... and somehow, this chemistry goes so strong that there are connections at times... connections where you spend hours chatting and nvr feel like stopping... thinking abt the same things without even saying it out at the same time... having similar reactions to a situation in front of you...

And over time, this passion, or chemistry is gone, or faded... due to work, lack of communications... BUT as long as attempts are made, the connections, the chemistry will be re-established... and for some, it could even be stronger than before...

This is my version of chemistry... What is yours?

Saturday, June 17, 2006 || Mix of Chemistry

I was chatting with a fren yst. She is, sort of, becoming a close fren, like a sis type. Anyway, talking abt likes and dislikes in a partner... Was actually into the topic of "Must have", "shld hv", "prefer to have" and "good to have". U see, I am in the opinion that, everyone should have their list... BUT should also be realistic and flexible in terms of their demands... Realistic in not having too many things in the "must hv" list... Flexible in being able to mix the list between the "shld hv" and "prefer to have" or even inclusive of the "must hv".

One of the main topic for discussion we had is the Importance ot Chemistry. Something which I talked abt in my previous entry. Well, I think Chemistry is important as well. BUT it should not supersede everything else. Can you imagine hving a partner who is a jerk and the other good thing abt him is the Chemistry between the two? In the first place, how do you define this unknown mix of Chemistry in the first place? Here is my mix of Chemistry - 1) Ability to get along : You know there is usually some pple whom you can carry on talking and chatting for hours although you have spent tonnes of time together? Think abt this, if you and your partner are old and retired, it helps alot if u two can chat alot. (50%) 2) Ability to think alike in some situations : This, I think, usually comes with understanding. When two people knows each other more, they tend to understand more abt how this person thinks in certain circumstances, even covers likes and dislikes of a person. (20%) 3) Common opinions in life : This could be pretty important in life. It usually boils down to how a person handles adverse situations esp when faced by a couple. (15%) 4) Common interest : To me, having SOME common interest is important. This can usually spices up the couple's lives during the course of time. (15%).

What is your mix?

(0) comments The Dark Horses coming through

Just came back from Chambers. Fantastic place for watching soccer. Watched with Peishi, Gerrard, Rene, Yanling and some other friends. Sometimes, you really cannot argue, Soccer do bring pple together, friends from everywhere. Gerrard took a couple of photos there. Will post once I got hold of them.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

In my previous entry abt WC, I named
Spain, Argentina, Ivory Coast and Netherlands as the dark horses. Well, here they come... esp Argentina... a 6-0 thrashing for Serbia and Monte. Let me try to analyse a couple of these teams.

Spain : A very even team. With Raul still lack of match fitness, they rely on Torres to provide the goals and goods. They do not have a "go to" player which make the team more unpredictable. The experience coach has gone for youth and form, coupled with a small number of experienced players to bring some stability to the team. One of the negativity of this team is, the lack of a real leader on the field. The second and more important factor to this team is confidence. True, their 4-0 first match win will give them plenty. However, being branded as underachievers for so many tournaments, this thought might creep into their mind when the going gets tough.

Argentina : This team, I think, is one of the darkest of dark horses. Like Spain, they do not have a "superstar" status player. The one thing they are better than Spain is the abundance of playemakers. Riquelme, is the first team playmaker, and Aimar and Messi on the bench. They dun seem to have a problem breaking down stubborn defences, and create chances, unlike England. Playemakers are the leaders on the team, so it is important to have a good one. The depth of their bench is as incredibly strong, even comparable as Brazil's. This depth could play an important part in latter part of the tournament when suspensions come into play. Teams like England and even host Germany might have difficulties playing their usual games if important players are suspended, but not Argentina. One of the negative factors for this team is the lack of height and aerial power in defence. This could prove to be a deciding factor against team strong in the air.

Thursday, June 15, 2006 || Pray for me, towards ID4

In an ideal world, humans will have more than 24 hours to spend in a day. They will have more time to sleep, more time to spend with friends, more time to clear their work. But sadly, the world is not ideal. A few weeks ago, mentioned abt an "big aeroplane flew" by a friend. Have you ever wondered, or remembered, how many aeroplanes YOU flew?

Frankly, I am also one of the guilty parties actually... Of coz, compared to the famous duo in my workplace, Jeremy Tan and Jeremy Sim, my "aeroplanes" are not as big and as often as theirs. And more often than not, it is becos of the missing "ideal" situation I mentioned above. If only we had more than 24 hours a day, maybe we will not fly so many aeroplanes. We can meet all our friends, for hours and hours, and yet have time to spare for tea, sleep and playstation.

4th July, it is the day of Independence Day of the United States. Ironically, it will be the day when my case goes to court. If the signs are good, then it will also be the day that I am "free". Friends, pray for me, please...

Tuesday, June 13, 2006 || A Day of Opposite Ends

As I always tell my friends, "huan2 dao3 zhui1 zhui1 zhui1"... definitely the case today... Going to the other end of the island is certainly not something I looked forward to... With my boss on leave and entrusting me to handle some last minute changes to my project, I was more determined to make sure I make this trip count. With such a far location, I definitely dun wan to make another trip there... Also, I got a new guy, Gordon, to help me. And perhaps his presence also caused me to be more meticulous on my collection of info this time round... Hopefully, his involvement in my project can give him a lift in his career...

I received my money in my VM card from AT today. Yes, ALIENTRUST, aka AT is BACK!!! I have been investing in them after the scampay issue in Feb. And I have got back my $1000 priniciple sum and more than that now, ehrm, a new handphone and a phuket trip to be exact. After problems in Egold and scampay at different times, they have managed to survive. This comes to show how strong their foundation is. I also put in some small amount in 13dailypro and dynamic profit, from recommendations by Nicholas. I just finished my 1st cycle with 13dailypro, and true enuff,
they paid within 24 hours, thumbs up !!! Dynamic profit has been paying to the account, but I hvnt tried withdrawing into my egold yet. We will see how it comes, but 13dp looks set to become another 12dp, which was only brought down by scampay. I shall wait and see for a while, to see if it is worthwhile investing more.

Do you believe in horoscope? Sometimes in the moring, when I am doing some fast surfing abt soccer news, I will pop by the yahoo horoscope, just for the fun of it. This is what it reads for me in short, "There's some bad news coming, but if you look at its essence, you'll see some hope." Strangely, I got a great news in the morning instead when the AT money comes in. After a long tiring day, a hall fren told me news abt my ex and the third party, something which shows that they are now together. I dunno whether it is a bad news, but somehow, I think the news in the morning was sufficient not to allow this info to dampen my spirits today, hee... Some time ago, I actually looked up the net for some info on star signs. It is quite interesting, esp when the characteristics seems to match, well, to a certain extent. Some also said that if your birthday is close to another starsign, you might have the characteristics of that starsign too. This is one link which I found to be most comprehensive. If you are interested, click here. On the other hand, one of my colleagues, has become something of a Feng Shui master. He can read the 8 pillars pretty well. The last time he did one for me, he told me a couple of things, I must find someone who is willing to give, and have some water elements coz I got too many earth elements. Hmm... chinese vs western... which to believe? haha... Here is one link for Feng Shui if you are interested, click here.

After two slots of training today, I got two more tomorrow. Hopefully I dun get a maxed-out slot like my second today. Lucky I came out with it alive. Sianz... Enjoy the WC guys !!!!

Sunday, June 11, 2006 || England 1 - 0 Paraguay

Watched THE OMEN with some friends today... totally shag... it is not scary, jus a few "shocking and sudden" moments, other than that, the plot is so-so... acting is so-so...ending SUCKX... think they wan to have a part 2... but seriously, i wont pay the money to go to cinema to watch it... maybe DVD lah... two thumbs down...

Anyway, went to Caesars to catch the England-Paraguay match, with two different group of frens... England, as usual, does not look impressive, esp going forward... But Paraguay were pretty cautious in defence, and really defend in numbers... England as usual, rely on set-pieces, to cause problems. However, this could be vital in knock-out stages. We shall see...

Got something off my chest recently... though not the best method to, at least I got it out... and now, to move on... Sometimes, u just wan to say something... Just like recently, there were a lot of unhappiness in office and one of my colleagues sent out a mail to address his... and there were some decisions and finger pointing for some movement problems, and difference in opinions between "need/have to" vs "prefer to"... I think sometimes, u cant expect pple to bend backwards for your preference... and words got to be delivered with caution... words got to be delivered with my tact and not let go without thinking what people are thinking and feeling at the same time... This is EQ!!!! but i tink some pple just have ZERO... tat's y not much pple to help when help is needed... Cheerz...

Was chatting with a good fren jus now... Perhaps another option of going to China to work... I guess with the current trend of early release, pple like me are looking for more options to weigh the pros and cons of them... Overseas vs Local, freelance vs employment... lots of thoughts, one decision... long way to go...

Saturday, June 10, 2006 || Good Night and Good Luck

Watched the Oscar Movie, GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK, with Shulin yst. Great movie !!! It exhibits how the mass media was limited by the politics, in this case a Senator, rather than being allowed the freedom of speech and presentation. Fear, was what stopped the media from doing it, fear of being accused and put away in Jail, without a proper trial nor jury, and even evidence, and you might spend the rest of your life rotting behind bars, in injustice. Highly recommended !!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Great start to the World Cup, 4-2 in the opening match, and victory to Germany. As I had mentioned in previous entry, Germany is not to be underestimated. From the play last night, Germany showed lots of promise in doing well in the tournament. Their Defence, though remains a suspect. Having not produce any world class centre backs in recent years could be the stumbling block for them to win this WC.

Thursday, June 08, 2006 || World Cup

Great dinner... dunno how Xiao Lao Ban came to know this place, but it is definitely THE place to go for ala carte buffet... Though the last one at Paramount was pretty good, but this is to match as well... Was a treat by the promotees to my dept pple, and my boss, was really nice... Like a deja vu of the old dept dinners we had...

Anyway, we got into a "work" discussion... Interesting, and definitely reminds me again why I enjoyed being in this dept so much, and glad I m not in other dept... we even talk abt the current trend of pple leaving the organisation... And at the end of it, my conclusion is "To Each His Own". Unlike Dino and Becks, I still got 3 years to go... this yr is World Cup, I can even go past the 2008 European Championship before I can smell the end of my bond... yah, it is that long, go figure it out... haha....

Ok, let me give my personal world cup prediction...

As usual Brazil... The old analogy of Brazil not being able to win in European soil during WC, may be true. But could it happen? The last time WC is in Europe was 1998, when France beat them 3-0 in the final. And Mr Ronaldo, one of their form and key player, had a sudden fit and did not make it to the match. This time, they had a lot of "go to" players... players like Ronaidinho, Kaka and Ronaldo, who can take a match with a moment of Magic. So this time, I see them making at least the semis...

England : A lot of pple said England is OVERRATED. I totally agreed. However, I think two of the key advantage of England is FORM and FATIFUE. Fatigue becos many of their starting players had a full season with their clubs... Owen, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, Rooney... on the other hand, their other players like Gerrard, Terry, Lampard, Neville, Crouch, are all having one of their best and most consistent seasons with their clubs. These two factors could make England a surprise this WC. I expect them to be in the semis too, if not, the Final.

Germany : Being the host nation, u can never underestimate them... esp a country like Germany, who had won more WC than most countries other than Brazil. Germans are precision engineers, their style of play resembles their country's culture... No mistakes at the back, capitalised on opponents' mistake. This careful approach suits the current international soccer, as proven by Liverpool and Proto in the recent CLs, even Chelsea in EPL, Greece in the last European Championship (2004), and by Germany themselves in the 2002 WC, who made it to the Final and lose to Brazil.

I expect the surprise teams to be Spain, Ivory Coast, Argentina and Netherlands. Spain has been branded an underachieving team for the past decade or so. With an easy group, they could be able to obtain the much-neededconfidence to go further into the knockout stage this time. Ivory Coast is a fast team, much like the Senegal in 2002. They are hungry for success and the existing teams players are mostly plying their trade in Europe already. Argentina and Netherlands are highly rated by me because of the change in culture. In the past, "reputated players" are usually the ones who got called up for tournaments like this, this is despite the loss of form with their clubs and even lack of match practices. However, their respective coaches have gone with the policy of "you perform with your club, you get picked." To me, reputations are crap... because who said a famous player cannot perform badly. Players who are on form, and consistent, are players filled with high confidence. And being a less known in the international stage, they will be even more hungry to perform.

(1) comments Going overseas to Reside and work?

The week has been okay... no late days so far... Shulin came bac for some stuff today... nice to see the girl back in sqn again... though she dressed differently, but more radiant... n probably happier, since her more hectic working days are over... Mine, on the other hand, is just starting... my renovation is starting next week... So got to clear a lot of details here and there....

Anyway, was telling Shulin abt my thoughts of going overseas to work... Long ago, I had a conversation with Dino, and he actually thought abt going over to HK to work before... After Becks and I went to HK with HF, we had that thought too... Then a couple of days ago, was talking to a friend who is residing in Aust now... and I had the thought of going Aust to work as well... Of coz, a lot will depend on what happen 3 years later... and also whether I got a gf by then... As far as I hope my next gf is my lifelong partner, I first got to find one first... haha... anyway, if no one wants me by then, I think the overseas option could be very real and worth considering... oh well, all is too early to say...

Monday, June 05, 2006 || A "meeting" day

Had 3 meetings today... Manz... running around like a mad dog... the good thing though, is that I get to go off earlier... Managed to go to FF... my toe still hurts, so I ended up cycling, to replace my usual jogging... but quite nice... I ended up watching a huge part of the England-Hungary match... Think I was there for 50 min... my legs almost couldn't move when I got down... manz... after tat, got a good workout on the weight machines... shiok...

Was watching the soccer match... and was wondering abt how referee conduct themselves in matches... as opposed to life... Hmm... let me elaborate abit more... some referrees made mistakes in matches, lousy whistles on fouls... tat's the nature of the game, when the whistle go off, the game have to stop... so referee tends to carry on with their "mistake" judgement and carry on with the game... now here is the burning question, do u blow the whistle in the opposite direction for a similar case to EVEN things out? or do you carry on with the game as if nothing took place? I myself have referee-ed an entire soccer tournament during my term as the Sports Sec in NTU... and frankly, I tend to go for the latter... I do admit I DID go for the former a couple of times... but I tink personally, I will for the latter more...

Now, bring that over to Life... do you try to correct a mistake which you have done? Or leave things as it is and try to learn from it? Ok, of coz, that is assuming that the mistake you have done is CORRECT-ABLE... I think it is a "chaim" question... considering the number of mistakes we tend to make in our lives... Like example, if you had wronged someone, then will you go and apologize? or some of your actions caused this person to suffer some hurt or even as slight as inconvenience, do you perhaps do something, or even buy a small "thank-you/I am sorry" gift to this person? I guess, there is still a lot of factors to be considered... Anyway, if every mistake is reversible, then the world will probably be a much nicer place to live in...

Today I spent some "Me" time... basically, it just means time that I spent with myself... ah... u see, becos a fren flew a big aeroplane on me... I shld not mentioned the name here so that pple won't remember "aeroplaning" with this person... I was stuck with 2 movie tickets... Coincidentially, most of my frens aldy watched this particular X-men aldy... so I decided to watch it on my own... I used to do it during sec sch... and a couple of times when I sent my ex to NTU for exam, and had to kill some time, so as to pick her up after that...

Frankly, I must admit that I am not one of those pple who feared loneliness... to a certain extent, I do enjoy the "Me" time sometimes... like watching NBA/soccer/DVDs at home... Jogging along ECP... Riding round Singapore, which I did thrice... or just staying in my room/hall room play PC games... or even watching TV... Think that explains why I have so many DVDs and games in my room, haha... A fren once complain to me that the bf is always busy... and can't accompany her... I guess I won't have that kind of problem if it happens to me... hee... Of coz, some company would be good... of coz, there are activities which I prefer to do with company...

Remember some time ago, I mentioned abt a fren who mentioned that he may "hai4" the next gf he had... and probably afraid to go into a relationship... Perhaps I am as well... Spending some "me" time allows me to see my past and think abt the future... it is strange when you lost someone/something, then you started thinking abt what exactly went wrong... whose decision was it to end it, what was it that caused the decision... More often that not, our lives revolves around the word "choice"... the decision to forgo something for something else... taking risks by opening up emotionally... shutting yourself up to eliminate any possibility of a heart-break or, on the other hand, a great future... all these are choices... decisions made... If only the world is simple enuff that everything is pre-determined beforehand... then things will be simpler...

Thursday, June 01, 2006 || My Bleeding Big Toe !!!!

Another day has passed... One day from weekend... Nice... tot my day was ok when I left at abt 530 from work... earliest in a week... Came home and bang !!! I hit my toe against a slowly moving door... seomtimes I think I can be really clumsy... my big right toe is not bleeding internally... and there goes my Friday's bball session... anyway, after dinner, went to take over my flat back from my tenant... the house is clean and how it was when it was bought... I went there with a heavy heart... Knowing that I still have another month before the outcome of my case, my mind couldn't rest fully... Life goes on...

Met a really really old fren, he is a hall-mate cum bball mate... chatted for abt half an hour... I loved meeting old frens sometimes... Bring back alot of fond memories... the days when we rest along the corridors after bball team practices... the late supper with huge huge pot with 12 packets of instant noodles... lots of TCSS in rooms when he wanted to go after my ex's roomie... the countless winning eleven duels we had... oh manz... great memories... those were the fun years...
