Sunday, December 31, 2006 || The aftermath of taiwan...

I think part of the taiwan trip has caused me to like taiwan shows more... I am currently watching a Taiwanese show on TV... somehow, though this is the first time I watched, but I quite like it... think my views of everything somehow change... Perhaps it is the deeper understanding of taiwanese pple after conversations with my Dad's fren... I guess, learning the culture, characteristics, habits of them, made me change my opinion of things ard me as well...

I guess life is like tat... opinions change, views change... earlier today, I got a little shock of my life... Just realise tat one of my best fren's ex colleague is one of my ex-gf's best fren... I somehow recognise her, though it was very long ago when I last saw her... the world is really small... or maybe SG is really small...

Anyway, the coincidence brings me to another topic altogether... What will you do/say if u manage to contact your ex? I am talking abt ex-gf/bf long ago... many years ago... When the coincidence happen, first thing tat came to my mind is how is my ex... hopefully she is doing well... u noe some pple tend to take breakups worse than others... some r more drama, some r more rationale... some r unreasonable... some are not... but in the end, the love that had once been a part of your life will always remain... and more often than not, if u r postive, u will take the good memories only... throwing away the old ones... I wish she is now living happily... whether married or not... though the relationship din work out, n she din wan to keep the friendship, I still wish her all the best.... God Bless....

After coming back from Taiwan, there is yet another popular debate between me n my two travel mates... "Is Taiwan girls better than SG ones?" We are all certain that the general taiwanese population of girls are prettier.... We also got the pivilege to talk to one of the locals... well, not entirely local, coz this man is my Dad's friend... and he has lived there for 20 years, married a taiwanese girl, and have a business there....

U see mentality in Taiwan is very different from in SG... take for example, we talked to a few girls at my Dad's fren's restaurant... guess what, they are Uni grads... has a Day-job which pays abt 1.5k/mth, and worked part-time at the restaurant, earning $6/hr... Most of them are not from Taipei but some other rural parts of Taiwan, moved to Taipei and trying to make a living out there...

A qn was raised, how many SG Uni grads are willing to work two jobs? After talking to my Dad's fren, there is a huge difference between the mentality of local girls and foreign ones, in this case, taiwanese... Perhaps, it is the education system that brought abt the difference... Generally, taiwanese girls are hardworking, and they pretty much just wan someone to love them, rather than looking at other things like, good looks, high income, flawless character... Many of them dun even mind holding the hand of a fat and ugly bf down a Xinmenting area, just walking ard window shopping, and watching him play the basket shooting machine for hours...

Now, I am not saying that there are no nice SG girls... I have some great frens, whom can definitely be gd lovers and wives... I guess, the culture difference is brought abt by the "materialistic" brought-up we have... I think many of ur parents are like mine, like to say this, "Better study harder, if not next time got to work very hard for money." This race for knowledge has become a hunger for money, rather than success, looking at the cash value of things rather than the non-cash ones like emotional and mental... Well, many of us probably got to realise and understand the fact that material terms are not everything... but to a large extent, it still reminds as a prominent key factors in many of our decision-making, not only in relationships... but everything...

Friday, December 22, 2006 || First Day in ROC

My first time in ROC.... and I must say it reminds me of HK... just that the language is friendly since my Chinese is better than my Cantonese... I must I like the way they speak here... sound much friendlier than SG... SG's customer service is much more lousier than overseas I must say... compared to Thailand, HK, ROC... they r not as friendly, and helpful...

Anyway, we arrived here pretty late... close to 1900H... we went to a BBQ restaurant and had our dinner there... cost a whipping 20SGD.... but wth, we were hungry... and we walked ard Ximenting... very hip place.... definitely a place for youngsters, somewhat like the Mongkok in HK... We actualy found a complex that sells a lot of handphone... Mr Peh is interested in getting a Dopod fone... me, i just wan to see if there is any fancy fone that doesnt hv camera here... haha...

That's it for Day 1... today, it's Taiwan 101, and Wupengfoo clothes accessories complex... hope I got the spelling correct...

Recently, I managed to have a good chat with my Daddy... u see, unlike traditional Dads, my Daddy is one of those whom u can just confide to... like a fren... and I am glad to have a father like that... Anyway, it had been 2 mths since I first left for Aust and came back... so that probably adds up to the amt of things we can talked abt...

He was still worried that I hvnt got over my unfortunate event in Feb, though I had assured him a couple of times that I did... anyway, I was telling abt some of the "mishaps" that happened to the pple I noe... and he was telling me his own frens' stories... kinda sad actually, to realise that there is so many of such things happening... even after many yrs of marriage... some of it unlucky, the others are mostly self-inflicted... Sets me pondering abt how pple viewed marriage now... is it just another step in a relationship? or is it the last step?

U see, in some countries, marriage is actually considered redundant... commitment is the key... u can be have a child with someone without getting married... Perhaps it is coz SG is an asian country, there are usually more conservative views and thoughts... But marriage, is in turn, a last step of relationship, as far as commitment level is concerned... meaning that u wan to spend the rest of ur life with him/her, and probably start a family in the process...

But not all couples are able to handle the changes that come their way... the loss of passion in the midst of raising a kid, in the midst of building a career etc... sojme couples lost this passion and turn to someone or something else for it... sometimes, this loss of passion become so serious, it resulted in divorce... wat abt the kids involved, if any? They are innocent to start with... I guess what I am trying to say is, the level of commitment needed to go into a marriage is more than what many see it now, in the current society... it is usually much more complicated than many think... the emotional refuge that are readily available outside the marriage is usually pretty tempting... and if the couple, or half of it tat is, choose to utilise the refuge, then the commitment is lost... to a certain extent, it is considered the easy way out... so everyone, pls consider your decision before marriage, and be prepare to fight changes together with ur wife/husband-to-be...

Just watched the show with Gerrard and abc... quite a nice show... a lot of pple said it is going to be like LOTR trilogy.... but unlike that, it is not a 3-hour show for each part... the first part was pretty short to start with... good length, i must say... least u dun hv to sit there for too long until u r not comfortable... other than that, the show is pretty good... not too much content... simple, yet inspiring at times... show the aspirations of a young boy... trying to do good to the suffering community he lived in... His chosen fate as a dragon rider allowed him to do so... though his young foolishness often put him and others in jeopardy... Good balance movie...

A few entries ago, I talked abt that someone in your dreams... someone whom u fall in love, no matter when and how... or even how much that person changes... The magical word with this person is CHEMISTRY... though i dun really believe in it... but it exists i guess.... U will definitely be better off talking to one person, than another...

Let me talked abt that ideal someone whom everyone has in mind... U see, I think everyone has a someone of dreams in their life... someone who somehow had a grab on ur life no matter what happens... then there is a another someone, someone who always feature in ur dream, as the ideal type of person u wan... in terms of height, looks, eyes, hair... the "perfect" person... for guys, probably someone babelious, for gals, someone hunky... I only have the chance to meet someone like that in my life once... perhaps I am not lucky... haha... oh well, life goes on...

Friday, December 15, 2006 || Lucky day....

Wow, my previous entry is last mth... hee... been busy enjoying myself in Rocky and SG... well, last few days in Rocky was relaxing, coz no work... had some BBQ, and shopping... then come bac SG, been filling myself with local food... SONG !!!

Today, went to NIKE sale early in the morning with CS, Rene and Baba... but well, lucky day... met Lingyi and Cassandra there... anyway, the sale was pretty boring and lousy... din manage to get anything sigificantly nice... bought a pair of soccer boots, shin guards, and a pair of shorts... boring... basically, sad story... until then...
