Besides closing the deal on Suarez, whom Ajax held on to a fee of 22.3mil pounds, the surprise was the double swoop for Torres to Chelsea and Andy Carroll to LFC.

First on the Torres transfer. I, for one, felt betrayed, like many of the LFC fans. I think a lot of neutrals are saying otherwise. Like the fact that he has given it all to LFC during his 3.5 seasons at Merseyside. However, I think it is the manner in which he left that left a bitter taste.

One, he could have choose to leave in the summer. Yes, you might argue that by him moving in Jan, he will have an another chance to win some silverware. But isnt all that LFC done for him worth it? He was a 'potential' super star when he arrived. C.Ronaldo, the most expensive player in the world did his transfer in the summer as well. At least, Man U got time to scout and find decent replacement.

Two, what is more frustrating for the LFC fans was the 'promise' he made when LFC was in the midst of sale from the Hicks and Gilliet era. He made the 'promise' that he will 'allow' the new owners to settle down and made the necessary changes he is looking forward to. But once he knew of Chelsea's offer, all these turned to dust.

Three, was the manner of his transfer request. 3 days is hardly enough for any club to find a decent replacement for the club's main striker. I still do not understand how Newcastle can agree to Andy Carroll's switch without any decent replacement, I feel for their fans. Neutrals will argue that Suarez's deal was already on the cards, but he was never meant to replace Torres in the first place, but to add to strength to the squad.

All 3 factors contributed to the reaction by fans.

It has been a long and turmoil season. The appointment by Christian Purslow of Manager Roy Hodgeson was surprising to say the least. Why sack Rafa when your replacement is someone who do not even boost any records of managing any big club or win a league? At least Rafa won the Spanish league with Valencia, in front of Barca and RM, I must add. And he brought LFC to the CL final twice, winning it once. I, for one, would rather he be in charged than RH.

The sale of the club was dramatic, but successful. The appointment of Comolli and Steve Clarke, in my opinion, are shrewd decisions. With Torres and Babel gone, LFC now have 2 main strikers, in Suarez and Carroll, something which did not happen for more than a season and a half. I have not seen Suarez played much except in the WC. But for Andy Carroll, I must admit he caught my attention earlier in the season with his plays. He is tall, with good technique both with the head and feet. He is agile and mobile, someone in the lights of Peter Crouch but better. And he is young. Hopefully he can live up to his 'potential' like what Torres did 3 seasons ago.

Educating our younger generation

After so long, I thought I should start blogging again. So 'delete' goes all the previous posts, in came a common template fr the net, and viola...

This evening, I brought JH and wifey to Century Sq. As usual, JH likes to go to Kiddy Palace. It is fine with me, that's kids... I was showing JH all the toys, including a soccer game. While I looking at something else, this boy came along and said 'excuse me' before he walked past me. I tot, 'what a polite boy' to myself. Then a moment later, I realised he took away the soccer game I placed on a pile of toys for JH to play. Anyway, JH din scream or wat, but carry on to other toys. So I din bother. But I was eyeing that boy. Shortly after, he purposely came over and walked past JH and pushed him. I was fumed. Clearly he did it on purpose since he knows how to say 'excuse me' earlier.

Me: hey boy, where is your manners?
Boy: ....
Me : hey I am talking to u (pointing at him). Where are your manners? How can you just push this little boy like that?
Boy: ....
Me : Where are your parents?
Boy: My parents are there (pointing to the food court outside).
Me : Don't your parents teach you any manners? You want to grow up to be a bully or gang member?
Boy: (long silence with me still staring at him)...
Me: Such a brat, you ought to ask your parents to teach some manners if not others will teach it for them.

What the heck, this is the 2nd ridiculous thing I encountered with all this pre-schoolers. First encounter is what an old granny asked her grand-children to cut Q at Ikea food stall.

Sometimes I am so glad that SG have parents who teach their kids and not think that teaching and educating is what the Schools should be doing instead of themselves. We, as parents, are ever responsible for your younger generation. There should not be delegation to teachers, or passing on of responsibilities to domestic helpers.
